If there was someway to have the last checkin (from the POS station not the dedicated checkin station) to be loaded into the POS program as the current customer that would make for a much more streamlined flow at the POS station. Currently we check the person in to ensure they have a waiver, then alt-tab over to the POS program and then have to select that customer from recent checkins. I know it doesn't take all that long but having to do those extra taps and wait those extra seconds for ever day pass we sell takes its toll on our flow.

Hey Andy,

For the last month or so, it seems as though the credit card app (what has to load in order to swipe a card) is loading really slowly. Sometimes it takes 10 or 20 seconds to load. Again, this is previous to swiping the card. We don't have any firewalls that could be blocking it and we just upgraded our internet so I don't think that is the issue, either. Any ideas?

Is it possible to process a online waiver into RGP without it automatically checking that person in?

As of right now it does check that person in. Could you implement the button to give the option to check this person in or not?

We are getting a lot of waivers for birthday parties and lock-ins that we would like to process and get into RGP but when we do that prior to the day of the event it automatically checks that person in.

Thanks,

i've been trying to figure out how to process a bank draft with a voided check, can anyone help?
I've typed in all the routing.account info and went to process billing, says its 2 steps, but now states "You have ACH events that have not been transmitted/submitted, go to the billing events tab and complete the events."
When i go to the billing events tab, it highlights the transaction in red, and even when i 'edit' and change it to completed, it stays red.... What do i need to do? cant seemed to find the process on how to complete ACH payments anywhere...
Thanks

Also, do i have to periodically check back here for a response to this feed? Or will i be emailed once an answer has been submitted?

Thanks again,

We are trying to set up RGP at our gym. We have a thermal receipt printer "SPRT" model: POS58IVU. I'm trying to print a test receipt and nothing happens. I try to set up our regular printer as a default printer on RGP and that one doesn't work either. Both printers are fully functional through other software. Also, when I try to print through RGP, the print file gets stuck in the queue and I am unable to delete it. I have to restart the computer. Please help...Thanks

Hey Andy,

Like many other rock gyms, we have a "recheck" or "retest" certification level that indicated the customer in question can belay for the day but must take the test again on their next visit. Is there any way you could add a recheck or retest certification level to the list? Right now, we enter notes specifying someone is a recheck. However, if the note isn't deleted, a customer can be both belay certified and a recheck. If that's possible, could you also add a lead climb + belay certification level. We allow people to be lead climb certified without being lead belay certified if they aren't going to lead belay and we have to use notes to make that distinction as well. Let me know what you think.

Hi All,
Just wondering what the majority use for a reminder when someone's concession is going to expire?

I've got all the various valid concessions put in as subtypes and these give me the cues as to what to charge our guest members in the POS window. But I was wondering how can I keep track of when the climber's concession runs out (the wiley little buggers don't usually volunteer that info to me).
Is it easiest to put an alerting note in and just keep an eye on the date?
Andy - you mentioned a few months ago about 'Triggers' any movements on this concept as it sounds like a perfect application.

Hey Andy,

Shortly we're going to begin experimenting with different advertising methods and we'd love to use the tags system in RGP to track the effect each method has. Is there any way to have a tag query or a multiple choice "how did you hear about us?" pop up on the waiver stations before the customer is able to fill out the waiver? It seems like that would be the best way for us to find out how nearly 100% of our new customers have heard about the gym.

As always, thanks for the help.

Hello There!

Recently I've been working on interfacing with RGP so that our gym can install a magnetic lock on our gate depending upon the return code from RGP. Based on an email Michael sent me, I'm supposed to write a script that listens for the scanner, opens RGP with the command /barcode xxxxx, and then get the return code (0, or 1).

So far, the main problem I've been having is that there seems to be a random delay between issuing the command, and getting a response from RGP. This can be anywhere between 5 seconds up to 1 minute, 30 seconds. I don't understand why exactly this is. Scanning the card and having RGP receive the input is near instantaneous.

I was wondering if you might have any insight, or if there were a way to implement this in another way. Such as just listening for a return code from RGP rather than opening up a new process each time.

Thanks,
Miles

Andy,

First of all, I just want to say how impressed with RGP and all the latest improvements I am.

Now I have a suggestion/request. There are several scenarios in which we would find it very useful to be able to use a tablet PC as a roaming credit card POS. I know they make attachments for tablets that allow you to swipe credit and debit cards. The only issue would be printing/signing the receipt. Is there any way you could integrate a touch screen e-signature into some kind of mobile POS? We, and I'm sure other gyms, would find that endlessly useful when getting birthday party payment, when trying to relieve pressure on the front desk, etc.

What are your thoughts?

Hey all - finally committed to running RGP for everything in my gym. But I have a question regarding memberships...
We have to use a 3rd party EFT Gateway for our memberships here in Australia so I don't enter any banking details into RGP but then I keep getting warnings about not having full details in RGP everytime they come in.
How do others get around this?
Should I just list it as a prepaid membership instead of EFT? I'd like to keep them separate for accounting.

It would be great to have a training or demo mode that allows you to trial any aspect of RGP without actually changing the data base. This would allow for trialling ways to setting up customers, products, or billing to get it just right before actually doing it.

It would also be good for training new staff. They could actually use RGP in a simulation mode and not change anything on the data base.

Not sure how easy it would be, but would be an excellent addition.

Would it be possible to make a person with a punch card a member with experation time on the membership, but not the punch card?

We offer a membership that allows discounts on products and access to certain areas of the facility, but the person pays for entry using a punch card. It would be nice to have RGP's membership facility track the length of that membership for us and automatically apply discounts, as well as allow them to buy a punch card.

In a ddition to that, we see a lot of tourists, and we could classify them as guests, and the locals as members in the system to help differentiate them. We do not yet do the typical membership, as it is very expensive for EFT managment here in NZ. We also find the punch cards work very well and use not having an experation on them as a selling point.

Cheers

I was wondering if it is possible, in any way to prevent the sale of an item that is not available. To apply a maximum of sale for an item.

I'd like to sale a climbing child course for a maximum of 10 persons. I'd like to manage the subscription of the class with RGP.

But I don't want that my staff have to check everytime if their is space available for that class. I mean, we can do it manually by checking the inventory or keeping track of the sales, but can we apply a maximum # of sale to an item.

Thanks

When adding a customer / configuring a member, what does the "gear included" drop down box do? For example, what does choosing "always" effect?

We have one type of membership that includes free rental gear. Even though it would create a zero dollar transaction we would still like our staff to create a POS transaction so we can track gear usage. It would be ideal if the price for this rental gear item would automatically zero for these specific members. Does this drop down box provide this functionality? Or is the box simply used as a reference for our staff?

Hi Andy,

My question relates to a new set up of RGP.

I have just received a batch of barcode 39 cards, and when I scan a card to assign to a customer, the below error pops up:

“Barcode must start with a non-alphabetic character or be the data from a magnetic strip”

Unfortunately, all the cards I ordered start with alphabetic characters before the numbers... :-(

Therefore, my question is - Is there a way to get RGP to accept the barcode as is, or will I need to order a new batch without these characters?

(Hint: the former option may be preferable... :-) )

Many thanks,
Nitzan.

I'm not sure, but I can't seem to find the refresh button on the newest update I have.

Now, when I add something or change something in the data base, I have to restart the program to refresh the new data. I am sure there is an easier way and I am missing it.

Guangzhou on "Gym Inventory Seperate"

I would like to keep the gym inventory separate from the for sale inventory. Is that possible. Currently, when I do the adjustment and transfer gear to gym use, the gear transferred out still shows up in the inventory.

Example:

I bring 25 quick-draws to our gym and put them in Rock Gym Pro. A couple later, we decide to replace two quick-draws on our wall, so we go to RGP and transfer two QD to gym use. When I run my inventory, the 2 quick-draws are still in the inventory.

Make it hard when we do inventory count of retail goods.

Cheers

We're about to run billing (for the first time) and we have one member to bill who was entered incorrectly. When our staff added him, his next billing date was chosen to be 10 March, not 10 Feb and now that it's billing day, he doesn't show up in billing, and I can't change his date to 10 Feb since it's already 10 Feb. Any ideas how to bill this one?
